DONGKAMUKAM: The flood situation in West Karbi Anglong has worsened. The water level had been steadily rising since the last 24 hours. However, on Friday evening, the level remained the same.

"I have never seen water rising to this level in my life," said Micheal Marak, the 59-year-old government village head of Satgaon. Hemari Phura, a 72-year-old person from the Satgaon market area also echoed the same view.

The Satgaon main market area has been inundated for the first time and flood water has also overflowed the main road opposite Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (AGVB), Satgaon Branch and PWD IB constructed on the Satgaon Dongkamukam road.

The affected people have taken shelter on embankments in Taradubi and Namtaradubi while others have taken refuge at Garo Cultural Hall Satgaon, Satgaon ME School and Satgaon Assamese High School.
