BISWANATH CHARIALI: More than 50 families in the southern village of Lauguti have been affected by flood and SDRF personnel have relocated the families to safer places.

Most of the roads in the southern part of Gohpur have been cut off from communication and recently, the Magni Paken-connected APWD road and the Barangabari-Charangiya-Dathkala-connecting APWD road have been inundated. The road leading from Barangabari to Kalyani Devalaya has also been damaged by flood water. Areas like Charangiya, Dipra, Teleni, Mailbazar and Amguri have come under the fury of the flood of the Brahmaputra. Many small tea gardens in Dipra and Mail Bazaar have also been flooded.

Hundreds of poor peasant families in the southern parts of Gohpur subdivision have been devastated by the destruction caused by the Brahmaputra. The Brahmajan, Balijan, Chatrang, Kukurjan and hilly rivers flowing through Gohpur subdivision are also igniting the river. As a result of the breach in the Kukurjan river dyke, a large number of people in Chatia Chuk village in Gohpur, Nij Gohpur and Tongna villages have been affected. The breach in the Brahmajan river dyke has caused extensive damage to Bamungaon, Garudhwadubir, Hatibandhiya and other villages.

The people of Madhya Chatrang, Dhenudhara and South Jaipur are suffering from the rising waters of the Chatrang. The village of Tongana has been submerged due to lack of drainage system which is blocked due to construction of four-lane road.
