LAKHIMPUR: The Flying Squad Teams (FST) have continued their operation against the violation of Model Code of Conduct since the day they came into effect in Lakhimpur district subsequently after the Election Commission of India (ECI) had notified the dates for the Assam Legislative Assembly Election. Amidst such operations, the FST—2 seized an amount of Rs. 2,01,900 in front of Moinajuli Border Out Post on Thursday night. The amount of money was seized from a person named Paban Chetri, son of Kharga Bahadur Chetri, resident of Kalabil Mornoi under Bihpuriya Police Station. In this regard, a press release, issued by the District Information and Public Relation Officer on Saturday, stated that Paban Chetri was carrying the money while riding a motor bike at that time. This was informed to the Circle Officer of Bihpuriya Revenue Circle by Foijul Islam, personnel of 13 Assam Police Battalion. Then the Circle Officer sent the FST—2, led by officer Narottam Baruah and ASI Ranganath Taye, which seized the money. In this regard, a case has been filed at Laluk Police Station and the seized money was deposited in Lakhimpur district treasury.
