Former Assam Chief Minister, Education Minister, senior Congress leader Bhumidhar Barman passed away at the age of 90 on Sunday evening at a Guwahati hospital.
According to reports, he had been on ventilation at the ICU of Dispur Hospital, Guwahati for the past few days.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance Health and Education Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma consoled the death.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee has expressed grief at the senior Congress leader's demise.
A graduate from Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh in 1958, he was first elected to the Assam Assembly in 1967. He was also an MLA for seven terms, twice from Nalbari West, once from Dharmapur, and four times from Barkhetri.
