GUWAHATI: Former Assam Chief Minister and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal arrived in Guwahati on Saturday morning for Jan Ashirwad Yatra.

Significantly, this is the maiden visit of Sarbananda Sonowal after he assumed the charge of Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and also Minister of AYUSH. He is also a member of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs.

Sonowal was welcomed by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at the LGBI airport at Borjhar.

Taking to Twitter CM Sarma wrote, "On his first visit to Assam after joining the Union Cabinet, I had the great honour of welcoming Sri @sarbanandsonwal at Guwahati airport. Sri Sonowal will seek blessings of people as part of Jan Ashirvad Yatra. Welcomed Union Minister Sri @Rameswar_Teli also".

The Assam unit of BJP will carry out the three-day 'Axirbaad Yatra' to welcome Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The program will be held at 18 places across the State during his Yatra from August 21 to August 23.

The Yatra will proceed through the party's organisation districts of Guwahati, Morigaon, Kaliabar, Nagaon, Jorhat, and Sibsagar. It will cover 375.5 km. The Yatra will be held by strictly following the COVID-19 protocols.
