Guwahati: Tarun Gogoi, veteran Congressman and 3-time former Chief Minister of Assam, has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Thursday (September 24) due to health complications.

Sources informed The Sentinel Digital that the Gogoi was rushed to the ICU in the early morning hours of Thursday after his condition turned "critical."

Earlier, the octogenarian was admitted to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) after testing positive for the dreaded coronavirus on August 26.

"I have been tested Covid 19 positive yesterday. People who came in contact with me during the last few days they should go for Covid test immediately," Gogoi had written on Twitter, informing about his condition.

During his treatment, Tarun Gogoi's health deteriorated as his oxygen levels suddenly dipped, following which he was administered convalescent plasma.
