KOKRAJHAR: Former president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), Sahitya Akademi awardee and Tagore Award winner Brajendra Kr. Brahma is battling for life at Malay Hospital and Research Centre, Siliguri in West Bengal. He is still on life support system due to severe stroke.
Brahma, in his 80s, fell unconscious after he suffered from stroke and was taken to Siliguri on September 29. He is in the ICU since admission in the hospital. Hospital sources said that his condition had improved a little.
On Thursday, former Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma, advisor of the ABSU, Moneswar Daimary and president of the United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO) Mihiniswar Basumatary along with his colleagues visited the private nursing home where Brahma is being treated in Siliguri. The leaders met the doctor and took stock of his health condition.
Talking to this correspondent, president of the UBPO, Mihiniswar Basumatary quoted the doctor as saying that due to age-related ailments, his flow of blood had become slow. He also said that BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary had extended financial support for Brahma’s treatment.
