KOKRAJHAR: The United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) and former Rajya Sabha MP UG Brahma expressed deep sorrow over the demise of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who passed away on Monday at 5.34 pm.
The general secretary of UBPO, Anil Basumatary said that they would remember him always in the days to come. He said that it was Tarun Gogoi who first announced to form the Boro Kachari Autonomous Council for Bodo Kachari people living outside BTC/BTR on January 1, 2016 while he was the Chief Minister of Assam.
"We feel the people of Assam and the country lost a great human being, statesman and politician," he said, adding that his demise was a great lose to the people of Assam.
On the other hand, former Rajya Sabha MP UG Brahma said the demise of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had saddened him. He said Gogoi was an uncompromising politician and under his bold initiative, the BTC became a reality. He also said that his demise was a great loss for the people of Assam.
DEMOW: Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi passed away on Monday evening while undergoing treatment at GMCH. The Demow Press Club, Thowra Congress leaders and local organizations of Demowcondoled his demise.
