GUWAHATI: The National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militant outfit's former leader I K Songbijit is sought by the NIA in connection with the killing of 87 Adivasis in 2015.
Notably, the National Investigation Agency is still unable to locate I K Songbijit, the former leader of the insurgent National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), who had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The NIA has filed a charge sheet against Songbijit in this matter. He's been summoned to appear before a court. The former militant commander was called to appear before a special NIA court on January 29.
In 2015, The National Investigation Agency and Nagaland Police detained three commanders of the Ndfb's Songbijit faction, in Kohima. According to NIA, the three militants are Ajoi Basumatary, Dilip Basumatary and Khamrei Basumatary.
Ajoi is the self-styled leader of the outfit's 3rd battalion, which is stationed in Kokrajhar. According to the NIA, the latest massacre of Adivasi villages occurred under his command and guidance. The three has been transported to Guwahati, where they will appear before the NIA special court.
