DOOMDOOMA: Bina Deka, former Principal of Doomdooma College, died of COVID-19 at Tinsukia Civil Hospital on Monday. She was admitted in the hospital on Saturday night on being tested positive after she had complained of her oxygen saturation level falling sufficiently below normal and was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) the following day, where she breathed her last.

She leaves behind her daughter, son-in-law and grandson. Her death cast a pall of gloom and different organizations/institutions like Doomdooma College, Tinsukia District Journalists' Association (TDJA), Doomdooma Asamiya Puja Aru Natya Mandir Samiti, Tinsukia Zila Xahitya Xabha, Sadou Asam Lekhika Samaroh Samity, and Ramdhenu Mahila Chora, Doomdooma mourned her death.

Her last rites were performed on Tuesday by strictly observing COVID protocol at Tinsukia.
