TANGLA: With the Assam assembly election 2021 round the corner, there is palpable enthusiasm among the voters of Paneri LAC as to whom the major political parties will give their tickets, where incumbent Bodoland People's Front (BPF) MLA Kamali Basumatary is in her fourth consecutive term.

The people of the constituency are looking for a new face to represent the area. One name that is highly anticipated as the candidate for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is former Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament and BJP State executive member, Santiuse Kujur, who before being parliamentarian had been elected for two terms as the Member Council of Legislative Assembly (MCLA) of Nonai Serfang BTC constituency and was also allotted an Executive Member berth in his second term. He is also presently serving as secretary of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) Mangaldoi branch.

"I am a dedicated karyakarta of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and if the party projects me in Paneri LAC I will definitely contest the polls," said Kujur. He further asserted that the people of Paneri LAC were grappling with key issues like potable drinking water, human-elephant conflict and proper healthcare facilities. If chosen by the party, he will focus on resolving these issues. He further reiterated that the BJP party workers of Paneri LAC and the entire Udalguri district had been working round-the-clock, holding door-to-door meetings across the region. He expressed confidence that the BJP would make a clean sweep in the four LACs of Udalguri district viz. Udalguri, Mazbat, Paneri and Kalaigaon.

Kujur, who was also a student leader of All Adivasi Students' Association of Assam (AASAA), is a popular face among the people and has delivered commendable service in instilling brotherhood among various ethnic and religious communities. Kujur has also been instrumental in bringing awareness among the people of the region in mitigating man-elephant conflict in the Indo-Bhutan border villages by carrying out awareness meets.
