MANGALDAI: The long-felt need of a modern library building in Mangaldai College will soon be fulfilled as Mangaldai legislator Guru Jyoti Das on Tuesday laid the foundation of the proposed library building in the college campus amidst the festivity of Saraswati Puja celebration.
As per the suggestion of the NAAC Peer team during their visit to the college and as per the decision of the college management, Principal Dr. Khagendra Kumar Nath has taken up the initiative for construction of the proposed library building at an estimated amount of Rs 2 crore from the own resource of the college.
Laying the foundation stone, legislator Guru Jyoti Das said that already initiatives had been taken up to open the PG course in Mangaldai College. "With the coming up of the proposed Assam Skill University adjacent to Mangaldai College, the entire surrounding area will be transformed into a hi-tech academic hub of the State within the next five years," he said. He also hoped that the proposed library building would house a digital library and archive and the students and teachers would be highly benefited. He also appreciated the initiative of the Principal of the college. Social activist Debabrata Dutta, media person Bhargab Kumar Das and the teaching staff of the college, besides a large number of students also took part in the foundation-laying function.
