BISWANATH CHARIALI: The foundation stones of two separate offices of the Agriculture Development Officers at Balisang and Gorehagi, respectively, in Biswanath subdivision were laid on Friday. Additional Deputy Commissioner and in-charge of Biswanath subdivision Jay Sivani and Biswanath District Agriculture Officer Deepak Barhoi were present as chief guests at the ceremony. The office of the Agriculture Development Officer at Balisang under Pabhoi Agriculture Circle will be set up under the Assam Agricultural Trade and Rural Transformation Project (APART) scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, they said that the government has taken such steps with the aim and objective of all-round development of agriculture and farmers. The officers also interacted with the farmers present there.

Under the same scheme, construction work of another office of the Agricultural Development Officer was started at Garehagi. The foundation stone was laid by Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur Deba Kumar Misra. The event was attended by Jay Sivani and Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Suryakamal Borah. Deputy Commissioner Misra mentioned in his speech that through these two offices the local farmers could easily avail the benefits of various agricultural schemes. He encouraged the farmers to take up agricultural work and move forward.

District Agriculture Officer Deepak Barhoi, Engineering Wing of Agriculture Department, teams of APART were present in the meeting while members of Gorehagi Gram Panchayat as well as other local people also participated in the event.
