Four drug peddlers arrested in Sarupathar

SARUPATHAR: Based on tip-off, SDPO Trinayan Bhuyan, officer-in-charge of Barpathar police and his team laid a trap at Barpathar, Pabhojan area in Dhansiri subdivision on Tuesday night and arrested four drug peddlers. The team seized around 10 grams of suspected heroin from their possession.

The drug peddlers were identified as Sonu Sikia of Barpathar, Raju Banerjee of Bokajan, Sahil Ali of Barpathar, and Rashid Ali of Barpathar. A Scooty bearing registration no. AS 05K 4683, one mobile handset, and cash Rs 2,900 were also seized.

Regarding this, a case has been registered at Barpathar police station in Dhansiri subdivision (case No. 89/2021) under section, 21 (B)/27 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) under Act, 1985.

SDPO Trinayan Bhuyan said, "Although the quantity of recovered drugs is less in this case, yet it can be regarded as crucial in unearthing the activities of drug peddlers operating in Dhansiri subdivision and their links in Bokajan in Karbi Anglong, Golaghat and Dimapur in Nagaland."
