GUWAHATI: The Assam police on Thursday arrested four persons for allegedly abducting a 40-year old man for ransom at Garchuk Police Station.

According to reports the police has carried out an operation and rescued the victim identified as Moinul Hoque (40) and arrested for accused persons identified as Md. Sariful Islam (25 yrs), Md.Shahin Ali (22 yrs), Md.Raj Ali (45 yrs), Md.Kajim uddin(33 yrs).
The victim is a resident of of village Bandihana, under Fakirganj police station of Goalpara District.
The investigation is continuing.
Earlier, Police have launched a probe in connection with alleged gangrape of a minor girl at Kathaltali in Karimganj district on Wednesday night. An FIR was lodged with Kathaltali police outpost by the girl's elder brother on Thursday. As per the complaint, the girl was kidnapped from her house on Wednesday night by three persons (accused) of an adjacent village Kurti – Kamal Uddin, Kala Miya and Shahid Ahmed in a car (MZ-01 G-0048) and forcibly took her to a house at Balurbond, Kathaltali and raped her there.
The complainant urged the police authorities to investigate the case thoroughly and take stern action against all the accused persons. An official at Kathaltali police outpost said police have launched an investigation. He hoped the girl would be recovered and the accused persons arrested very soon.
A source in police said two girls (including the girl who was allegedly raped) went missing from Kathaltali on that day. A section of people suspect that the persons, who raped her, might be linked with an international human trafficking racket.
