Four illegal band sawmills seized in Nagaon

NAGAON: The forest officials of Nagaon and Salna ranges led by Nagaon Sadar ranger, Nepal Mondal on Sunday seized four illegal band sawmills from Panikhaiti, Ambagan and Kathpara areas respectively. Including these four, Nagaon forest officials during the last two months seized more than 50 illegal band sawmills and more than 30 trucks of timber without valid documents in the district.

According to sources, on Sunday the sleuths launched a special drive against the illegal trade of forest resources and during the drive, the officials were able to bust these four illegal sawmills set up illegally at Nagaon Panikhaiti, Ambagan and Kathpara in Samaguri respectively. These illegal sawmills are owned by Jakir Hussain, Karna Mondal, Amar Sarkar and Allah Uddin, the sources added.
