Numaligarh: Acting on a tip-off, Jakhalabandha Police, with help of Bagori police outpost, seized four illegal teakwood-laden 10-wheel trucks from Bagori area at NH-37 and arrested the drivers and handymen on Monday.
According to police, the teakwood-laden trucks were coming from Dimapur and heading for Kolkata. During the search-stop when police asked for papers, plyboard challan papers were produced by the drivers. Police then busted the racket and recovered the illegal teakwood from all the four trucks.
The registration numbers of the four trucks are ML-06-T-1325, NL-01-AD-0697, NL-01-AD-2269, NL-01-AD-2273. The market value of the seized teakwood is believed to be around Rs 10 lakh. Police have registered a case and apprehended all the drivers and handymen of the trucks.
