Fourth death anniversary of Chino Basumatary observed in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The 4th death anniversary of founder editor of Bodosa, a Bodo daily, Chino Basumatary was observed by the Bodosa family and joined by the members of Kokrajhar Press Club.

Basumatary died on December 29, 2015, after a prolonged illness. He was also the founder president of Kokrajhar Press Club and advisor till his death. He was the president of All Assam Small Newspaper Owners’ Association and president of Media Trust, Assam.

Basumatary brought out Aronai monthly news magazine 1989. Later, he started publishing the weekly Bodosa in 1991 and later it was regulated as a daily newspaper in 2006. On his fourth death anniversary, Garkwdao Basumatary, son of Basumatary who is now the managing director of the Bodosa Publications, paid floral tribute at the portrait of his father. The members of Kokrajhar Press Club and former Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma also offered floral tribute. Brahma recalled the contributions of Basumatary in the field of news media. He said that Basuamtary had brought a new revolution in the field of media and mass communication. He also said his contributions to the field of journalism should not be forgotten.
