Dibrugarh: “The fourth unit of the BVFCL Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited will be made functional in the next 3-4 years so that it meets the fertilizer demand of Northeast India as well as West Bengal,” said Union Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister DV Sadananda Gowda in a meeting held at BVFCL, Namrup on Thursday.

He also urged upon the Managing Director of BVFCL, Sanjay Maheshwari to prepare a plan of action to increase the manufacturing capacity of the second and third units of BVFCL till the time the fourth unit did not start functioning, and present the same to the ministry. Mentioning that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had always given priority to the development of Northeast India, Maheshwari assured that the Central Government would take necessary measures to help BVFCL come out of the difficult position it had got into due to lack of modern infrastructure and rise in the manufacturing cost. Before gracing the meeting, the Union Minister inspected the various plants of BVFCL.

The meeting was attended by several dignitaries including Minister of State in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Rameshwar Teli; MP of Jorhat, Tapan Kumar Gogoi; MLAs of Naharkatia and Duliajan, Naren Sonowal and Teras Gowala respectively and DC of Dibrugarh district, Pallav Gopal Jha, among others.
