DHUBRI: Lions Club of Dhubri and Leo Club of Dhubri Town, in collaboration with Gauhati Lions Eye Hospital, organized a free eye screening at Dhubri Lions Vision Centre on Sunday.

This programme was organized under the National Programme for Control of Blindness to prevent the avoidable blindness globally which is an aim set by Lions Clubs International. More than 230 patients were attended by the team of specialists from Gauhati Lions Eye Hospital, Debeswar Pathak, Gopinath Baruah and John Das. Around 150 patients were diagnosed with refractive error, 50 patients with cataract and 30 with other problems like Pterygium, Glaucoma, DCT etc.

Talking to The Sentinel, president of Dhubri Lions Club, Sanjay Sethia informed that all the patients having cataract would be taken to the Gauhati Lions Eye Hospital in four batches for free cataract surgery.
