SARUPATHAR: The 79th death anniversary of freedom fighter Swahid Kushal Konwar was observed at a solemn ceremony held in the Rajuhuwa Bhavan (Community Hall) premises at Sarupathar in the Golaghat district on Wednesday. The programme was organized jointly by the Dhansiri Subdivisional administration, Dhansiri Freedom Fighters' Association, and local citizens.

Floral tributes were paid after lighting the earthen lamp on the tomb of the great freedom fighter who laid down his life for the sake of the freedom of the country from the hands of the British.

Underlining the great valor and heroism of Swahid Kushal Konwar, the SDO (civil) of Dhansiri subdivision said during the programme, "Swahid Kushal Konwar set a great example of human sacrifice through his deep commitment towards the cause of the nation. Human life is impermanent but great contributions to society live forever. Those who work for the nation with honesty and commitment are always remembered. The youth must take a lesson from the heroic feats of the freedom fighters and develop strong belongingness for their motherland."

The police, the civil administration and the local public of Dhansiri subdivision offered floral tributes to the martyr on his death anniversary on Wednesday. SDO (Civil) Dhansiri, Din Chengfa Baruah, leading senior citizens, SDPO Trinayan Bhuyan, and the media persons of Dhansiri subdivision were present.
