SILCHAR: Crisis further doubled in Gaglacherra TE as the management of this Hailakandi district tea garden, once again rejected the summon issued by the Assistant Labour Commissioner to attend the tripartite meeting to resolve the stalemate following the sudden lockout in the garden on December 15. Assistant Labour Commissioner had now issued a fresh notice inviting all the stakeholders like Abhishek Industries, which owns the garden, Barak Cha Shramik Union, Tea Association of India as well as the district administration officials on December 27. On the other hand, a reliable source in Dispur hinted that Labour Minister Sanjay Kishan would discuss the Gaglacherra issue with the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma after a meeting of Assam Tea Corporation.

Meanwhile, whereabouts of Ashok More and Soma Basu, two directors of Abhishek Industries as well as of K M Bhattacharjee, manager of Gaglacherra TE were yet to be traced. Three of them simply vanished from the garden on December 14 midnight after pasting the lockout notice on the factory and the office of the tea estate. Almost five hundred labourers were left with no ration and weekly wages for last one week. Ajit Singh, general secretary of Cha Shramik Union said, arrangement for distributing ration among the labourers should be done immediately.
