Gargaon College organizes national-level workshop

SIVASAGAR: The Department of Assamese, in collaboration with Gargaon Branch Xahitya Xabha, organized a one-day national level workshop on 'Open Source Learning Material: Accusation and Practice' on June 1. Dr Swapna Bora, Assistant Professor, Teaching Learning Centre, Tezpur University was invited as resource person of the workshop.

Inaugurating the workshop, Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, Principal of Gargaon College, said that organizing such a workshop would enhance the academic improvement as well as acquisition of learning through such resources. He added that Open Source Learning Material enhances the provision of learning opportunities for all and also improves teaching practices. Dr Mahanta appreciated the organizers for organizing a workshop on such a relevant topic.

Dr Swapna Bora of Teaching Learning Centre, Tezpur University highlighted the importance of Open Source Learning Material and its uses. Dr Bora also talked about the use of various sites, copyrights, plagiarism etc. Dr Bora further added that enhancement of learning materials could be used to support different approaches to learning. The workshop ended with a fruitful interaction by the students. Around 300 students and faculty members of the college participated in the workshop.
