SIVASAGAR: Gargaon College staged a Mahapurusia Bhaona on Saturday at the Benodhar Mohan Memorial Auditorium. The bhaona called Dritarashtrar Digvijay, Gajaketu Upakhyan, Trishirasur Badh was organized in memory of all the departed teachers, office employees, staff, and students since the establishment of the college and for the well-being of the present college fraternity.

Faculty members, office staff, employees, and students acted in the bhaona. The principal of the college, Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta donned the role of Bhagwan Vishnu. The Gargaon College fraternity and general public generously donated in cash and kind for the successful organization of the bhaona.

The bhaona was inaugurated by Parag Jyoti Bora, former Head of th Department of Geology, Gargaon College. Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta delivered the inaugural address. He thanked all the stakeholders of the grand event for their unflinching support and cooperation. Smriti tarpan was done by Dr Punyadhar Gogoi, former Principal of the college. A book entitled Purbarang and edited by Devojani Bokolial, Dr Ankur Dutta, and Dr Shyamolima Saikia, was also launched by Tulashi Sensua, former Associate Professor, in the presence of other dignitaries like Biman Boruah, president of the governing body, on the eve of the bhaona.
