SIVASAGAR: The Department of Mathematics, Gargaon College in collaboration with IQAC of the college conducted a visit to Nazira Bortala Higher Secondary School on May 25, 26 and 27. The purpose of the programme was to promote community engagement and social responsibility among the students.
Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, renowned academician and Principal of Gargaon College appreciated the efforts of the faculty members of Mathematics Department, Gargaon College for conducting such an outreach programme to exchange information pertaining to teaching, learning resources.
The introductory meeting was initiated by Dr Kabita Phukon, Assistant Professor and HoD of Mathematics department, Gargaon College. She said a few words about the activities that the Mathematics department of Gargaon College has initiated to carry out in collaboration with Nazira Bortola Higher Secondary School. The IQAC Coordinator of the college, Dr Surajit Saikia explained the purpose and objective of the visit to the school undertaken under Gyanyatra project.
An MoU was signed in the presence of Nivedita Gogoi, Principal, Nazira Bortala Higher Secondary School, Dr Kabita Phukon, Dr Surajit Saikia and Madhumita Dutta. The Principal of Nazira Bortala Higher Secondary School, Nivedita Gogoi extended gratitude towards the mutual understanding of the new initiative and expressed hope that the continuous activities under the MoU will be beneficial for the students. She stated their need and requirements in the context of education. She further promised to do the needful for the success of this MoU. As part of the initial activities of the programme, plantation was carried out at the school campus. Dr Kabita Phukon, Harekrishna Mili and Sujata Gowala, Assistant Professors of Mathematics department, Gargaon College and students of the department, Bitupan Mohan, Rubul Marar, Bijoy Beria, Debasish Rajkakoty, Jajasmita Handique and Brishti Bora conducted practice classes for the students of class X and XII of the school.
