GOALPARA: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Goalpara under the aegis of Assam State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) on Saturday organized an interactive session for the law students at the Goalpara Law College campus. The session titled, 'Legal services and role of law students : An interaction' was attended as chief guest by Justice N. Kotiswar Sing, Gauhati High Court judge and executive chairman of SLSA.
Addressing the house, Justice Singh said, "Participation of the law students in legal services is important which will give them an idea of the legal system and help them understand the problems being faced by the system." He also encouraged the students by saying, 'Nobody is a pandit in law. Everyone is studying and students. The legal profession is a fascinating one through which one may serve the society wonderfully."
Meanwhile, replying to a question as to what should motivate a person to choose law as a profession, Justice Singh said that the desire to serve the nation and the society should be the two things to motivate one. District and session Judge cum chairman DLSA Imtiaz Ali, author and senior advocate Jiten Das also spoke on the occasion. Several office bearers of SLSA also attended the programme. Presided over by Dr. Anup Roy, principal of Goalpara law college, the programme was aptly anchored by Anee Baruah, SDJM of Goalpara district court.
