Gauhati High Court Rejects Bail Plea Of 11 Teachers In Fake TET Certificate Case

Guwahati: The bail pleas of the eleven accused teachers in the job fraud case of Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) instructors presenting counterfeit certificates were dismissed by the Gauhati High Court on Monday.

High Court Judge Ajit Borthakur rejected the bail plea of the accused teachers. 

Earlier, the Assam Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained at least 36 teachers who got jobs by submitting fraudulent diplomas earlier this month. After receiving a complaint on the case, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asked CID Assam to open an investigation.

The Chief Minister received a notice alleging that instructors had presented forged TET credentials to the Director of Education in Kokrajhar in order to obtain employment across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). 

The situation was probed after the chief minister's directive, according to the police department, and the accusation was proven to be factual. Following that, a CID Special Investigation Team was formed to investigate into the situation.  

Sections 120 (B) (Criminal Conspiracy), 420 (Cheating), 467 (Forgery), 468 (Forgery for Fraud), and 471 IPC have been filed against these professors (Submission of Forged Documents). 

According to an Assam police statement, so far, investigations have indicated that fake TET certificates were forwarded, such as the alleged perpetrator demonstrating merit having failed the examination, in some cases, phoney roll numbers were used to generate fake certificates, and in other cases, failed candidates misappropriated the roll numbers of successful candidates.
