GUWAHATI: Gauhati University is going to conduct its fourth semester examination for TDC / BS / B.Sc / B.Com and B.Voc from September 20 most probably in online mode.

In an official statement, the varsity authority has said that the TDC BA, B.Sc, B.Com and B.Voc fourth semester examination 2021 will be held from September 20, 2021. The examination is going to be conducted for regular and arrear batches including the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL), the statement said.

Established on January 26, 1948, Gauhati University (also known as GU) is the oldest varsity in the Northeast region. The institution, which had begun its journey with 18 affiliated colleges and eight post graduate departments, has 39 post graduate departments besides IDOL and one constituent law and engineering college. It also has 341 affiliated colleges.

Covid-19 has been causing hindrances in education-related affairs across the country for the past many months. Studies have been hampered and students had to face a lot or problems because of the pandemic. In this connection, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam has decided to reduce the Course Curriculum of each and every subject approximately by 40 per cent in comparison with Academic Session 2019 for the convenience of exams of the students studying in class 9 and 10 in the academic session 2021-2022.

In a notification Board of Secondary Education, Assam has written that in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the educational institutions had to be closed from the 3rd week of April, 2021. During this period the schools had conducted online classes but most of the students could not attend due to various reasons. As such it has been noticed that there has been considerable Academic loss and it will be difficult for the students as well as the teachers to cover the course curriculum prescribed by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam for the Academic year 2021-2022.
