UDALGURI/TANGLA: "The Congress never loses, it has a glorious history," said Lok Sabha MP, Gaurav Gogoi, who is the in-charge of the party for the forthcoming assembly by-elections in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), on Thursday here at Udalguri Rajiv Bhavan.
Gogoi hoped that the party would get the expected results in the forthcoming assembly by- elections in the State. He interacted with Congress workers and stressed the importance of strengthening the party for the sake of the well-being of poor and marginalized people.
Addressing a press meet here, he said, "We are not much concerned about the by-elections, we are observing the situation and will take necessary decisions in the near future." He was optimistic about reviving the Congress in the region. He criticized the Modi government on the Nimatighat incident. "Why do the people have to suffer even after so many years of laying the foundation stone of the bridge by the then minister Nitin Gadkari," he said.
Later, Gogoi visited the historic Viswashanti Nepali Vidya Mandir in the heart of Udalguri town and had an intimate discussion with the Gorkha women devotees assembled at the temple on the occasion of Haritalika Teej. He also visited the house of senior Congress leader Chandramohan Chhetry and took stock of his well being. Gogoi visited the Udalguri district Gorkha Students' Union office and assured the Gorkha students that he was willing to raise any issues related to Gorkhas.
