Gaurisagar police arrested five persons for gangrape

GAURISAGAR: Sensation prevailed in the Sivasagar district following the arrest of five persons -Imran Hussain, Ratul Das, Achinta Gayan, Prasanta Gayan and Dhiren Das (Nigani) - by Gaurisagar police on Thursday for alleged gangrape.

According to report, a woman was rescued by the Gaurisagar mobile police team from near Jhanji on NH-37 in serious condition in the intervening night of October 10 and October 11. The police admitted her to the Sivasagar Civil Hospital for emergency treatment. The woman next day appeared at Gaurisagar police station and said that Imran Hussain had allegedly lured her to the house of Ratul Das of GGS Chariali, Bhatiapar for a feast and raped her along with four others present.

She was then left on the wayside late that night. On the basis of the FIR, Biswajyoti Duwori, O/C, Gaurisagar Police Station, promptly arrested all the accused in case no 118/2022 u/s 376 on Thursday evening. The accused was produced before the CJM's court, Sivasagar on Friday. The victim works in a restaurant.
