General Observers of ECI review poll preparedness in Goalpara

GOALPARA: The general observers of the Election Commission of India (ECI) appointed for the four assembly constituencies of the Goalpara election district reviewed the district's poll preparedness on Monday.

In a meeting arranged at the DC's conference hall, Varnali Deka, the district election officer cum Deputy Commissioner, tabled a detailed action plan of the scheduled election before the observers which has been prepared based upon the guidelines of the ECI.

In addition, the election officer appraised the general observers about the standard COVID protocols adopted by the district administration and to be followed during the poll process.

The steps undertaken for postal ballot provisions for the differently-abled persons, awareness under SVEEP to enhance voters' participation, several rounds of trainings for the poll personnel etc information were brought before the notice of the observers during the discussion.

The observers in the meeting sought active cooperation from the polling officers holding different positions to conduct a free fair and transparent election in the district for the greater interest of the democracy.

The ECI has appointed three Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers namely Deependra Kumar Choudhury as the observer for the 36 Dudhnoi ST, Pravin Darade for the 37 East Goalpara, and Dhirendra Sing Sachan for 38 West Goalpara and 39 Jaleswar constituencies. All of them are available at the meeting hall of the old circuit house in a scheduled time frame.
