Numaligarh: A Burmese python measuring nearly 20 feet was rescued by a joint team of forest staff, Numaligarh and rescuers of CWRC (Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation), Kaziranga National Park (KNP) on Saturday.

Tea garden workers first heard some weird sound and were scared. They immediately informed the Numaligarh forest beat office. After the gigantic reptile was spotted by laborers of Numaligarh Tea Garden near the Vishnu Mandir, Numaligarh, the joint team reached the spot immediately. It was spotted in the backside of the Numaligarh Vishnu Mandir, following which a large number of villagers thronged the site to see the reptile. People living in the area said that their goats had gone missing since the last couple of days and they suspected that the python might have devoured the goats. After struggling for over an hour to control the reptile, the joint team of CWRC and foresters were finally able to safely relocate the Burmese python near KNP.
