Girl Believed to be from Northeast, Brutalised, Sexually Abused, Assam Police Announces Reward for any Info

Guwahati: Amid all the news about racist comments against people from the Northeast, some more intense and worrisome videos have emerged on social media. These videos show a girl, believed to be from the Northeast, being sexually abused by four men and a woman.

One video shows the five people brutally torturing, stripping, and sexually abusing the girl.

The Assam Police, through a Tweet, has appealed to people to come forward with any information they have about the girl or the five culprits seen in the videos. The Assam Police said that it would 'handsomely' reward anyone who informs regarding this crime.

The offenders slapped, abused, stepped on the face of the victim and inserted a glass bottle into her private parts.

Many linked the girl in the video to the girl who had committed suicide recently in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Lovikali Sumi from Nagaland.

But the Jodhpur police clarified that the victim in the video is not Sumi.

Union Minister for Sport and Youth Affairs, Kiren Rijiju too said that the two girls are different.

Former Special Commissioner of Delhi Police, Robin Hibu, IPS and President of Helping Hands, NGO for people of Northeast in Delhi, said in a statement that they are trying to identify the girl and the offenders for further action. Stating that the girl in the video and the girl who committed suicide is not the same person, Hibu said that the sister of the dead Naga girl and Police have verified the video. They have confirmed that the two girls are different.
