Goalpara district administration promulgated Section 144 CrPC

GOALPARA: The Goalpara district administration has promulgated Section 144 CrPC with immediate effect from Monday under the apprehension of breach of peace and tranquillity and stray incidents of violence by bandh supporters during agitation.

Dr Ashraful Amin, additional district magistrate, passed the order ex-parte to prevent unlawful activities which may cause danger to public life and property. Under the prohibitory order, assembly of three or more persons, arranging rallies, dharna, road blockade, forceful collection, burning of effigy and delivering inciting lectures have been restricted. The order will remain in force for the next two months.

Nabajit Das Pathak was elected as the Deka Xatriya of Barpeta in the year 2009. Few days ago, he underwent a major heart operation.

The Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta, the MLA of Barpeta and various organizations have condoled his demise. The Deka Xatriya was cremated with gayan bayan and with great honour at the Xatra premises.
