The combined team of police personnel rescued 19 cattle and apprehended 6 persons but due to high current of water the boat got submerged in Brahmaputra.

GOALPARA: In an operation conducted by Goalpara river police station OC, Paulus Narzary and Mornai OC Krishna Kam Bordoloi on Friday night, one boat with illegal cattle were intercepted at Dakaidol area in Jaljoli river. They asked the boat to stop but the boat defied their order and moved towards Goalpara town. The boat with cattle tried to flee away but their engine got fired and DySP (HQ) Anurag Sarmah and his team were able to stop the boat near Naranarayan Setu, Pancharatna.

The combined team of police personnel rescued 19 cattle and apprehended 6 persons but due to high current of water the boat got submerged in Brahmaputra. The apprehended persons were Habibur Rahman (41), Motleb Ali (38), Moinal Hoque (32), Moinal Hoque, Hanif Ali (50), Amjad Ali (33). Preliminary interrogation revealed that they brought the cattle illegally from Barpeta to Dakaidol under Goalpara district. SDRF team has been alerted for the missing boat.
