TEZPUR: In a bid to bolster digital economy among the tea garden people, nations' largest banking sector, State Bank of India (SBI) installed an ATM in the Gogra Tea Estate some 30 km. away from here in Sonitpur District on Friday creating an opinion towards easy and digital transaction among the TE people. In an august occasion DGM (cm&cs) and DGM, B&O respectively Narayan Chandra Paul and Uttam Hazare Choudhury inaugurated the ATM in presence of Sanjib Kumar Deb, Regional Manager, RBO, Tezpur and others.
Addressing the people present on the occasion Narayan Chandra Paul DGM (cm&cs) mentioned that people who had earlier to travel several kilometers seeking a bank branch or an ATM for withdrawing their money, from now they are facilitated to ease that trouble with the new ATM installed just a few steps away from their homes. He further said, "It is a good move of SBI and the workers won't face any problem while withdrawing money from the ATM as they are already acquainted with how to use mobile phone. We are hopeful that the simple and easy going tea garden people and the workers as well will now be happy with the venture as from now onwards they needless to trudge miles to withdraw money." He said adding it was a long-standing demand of ABITA for the people of tea garden, which has been fulfilled today.
