GOLAGHAT: Golaghat District Congress Committee officials and members on Monday protested near the DC office in Golaghat against sealing of the Gomariguri Block Congress office located at Merapani Community Hall by the Border Magistrate of Merapani on December 23.

They raised objection to this act of the Border Magistrate and said that it was 'unconstitutional' because the Congress party office was sealed by the administration without any prior notice. The protesting Congressactivists also said that the Merapani Community Hall has been named after great leader NagenNeog and the Gomariguri Block Congress office had been operating there since 2011-12. Such a hall-cum-office cannot be sealed without any prior notice. The protesters demanded to reopen the office within 24 hours and also demanded action against the Border Magistrate of Merapani. A memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat in this regard.
