Golaghat District Court sentences 4 persons in child sexual assault cases

GOLAGHAT: Golaghat District Court under the bench of Md. M.S. Borbhuyan, sentenced two persons to 20 years imprisonment under the POSCO Act and a fine of Rs 5,000 was imposed on Friday. The accused persons are Lakhindra Soreng and Sukura Majhi.

A case No. 47/19 was registered at Bogijan Police Station in Golaghat against Lakhindra Soreng and Sukura Majhi for allegedly sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl child. The Golaghat court on Thursday convicted them to 20 years imprisonment and imposed a fine of 5,000.

On the other hand, under Golaghat police station, a case No. 995/19 was registered against Sukhu Karmakar. He was convicted to 7 years imprisonment and fine of Rs 2,000 was imposed for sexual atrocities on a 4-year-old girl. Similarly, this court also sentenced one Aminul Sikdar to 20 years imprisonment with fine of Rs 5,000 for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The case No. 137/21 was registered at Dergaon Police Station.
