GOLAGHAT: Golaghat police under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Dr. Robin Kumar and under the leadership of Additional SP Anjan Pandit, DSP Madhurjya Baruah and Golaghat PS officer in-charge Dipak Bora, carried out operation in various locations of the district against illegal activities.

Golaghat police arrested 48 persons and registered 26 cases against illegal activities within a month. Twelve cases were registered related to drugs and 21 persons arrested for involvement in drug peddling. Police recovered 41. 081 gm heroine, 23. 642 kg cannabis, 42 gram opium and 64 kg narcotic tablets.

Four persons were arrested and five cases were registered against theft of mobile tower batteries. Total 102 stolen batteries were recovered. Another three thieves were arrested and three cases registered for theft. One bicycle, six mobile handsets, four pen drives, two memory cards and two BT speakers were recovered.

Four trucks laden with coal were seized while eight persons were arrested and two cases registered against them. For cattle theft, two vehicles were seized, two persons arrested and one case registered for cattle smuggling while 22 cattle were seized.

Around 2,250 litres of petroleum products along with two oil tankers were seized and seven persons arrested whereas two cases were registered. In timber theft cases, two timber laden trucks were seized and two persons arrested and one case registered against them.
