GOLAGHAT: The Golaghat Police on Wednesday arrested two persons who were trying to run a racket of fake currency. The police have recovered Rs 31,000 fake currency note from the duo - Phurkan Ali and Hibjur Rahman. According to police sources, Phurkan Ali hails from Nagaon and is a autorickshaw driver at Dimapur in Nagaland. He gave Hibjur Rahman the said amount of fake currency. Hibjur, who is a garment merchant, gave a Rs 200 fake note to a shopkeeper at Rangajan area in Golaghat. When the shopkeeper examined the note he found it suspicious and soon informed the police. The police apprehended Hibjur Rahman and based on his information Phurkan Ali was also apprehended from Nagaon.
