LAKHIMPUR: "Good books are always a potent force for the human civilization. They have always inspired the society to be ameliorated. They are the connecting thread of past, present and future." This statement was made by noted educationist and Principal of Panigaon OPD College, Dr Suresh Kumar Dutta in Lakhimpur on Thursday while releasing Vinna Swad, the second book authored by the retired librarian of the college, Atul Borah. On this occasion, a programme in a befitting manner was organized in the college auditorium. It began with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by headmaster of Indira Gandhi High School, Lakhi Borah and a Borgeet performed by student Banashree Kalita. Releasing the book, Dr. Suresh Kumar Dutta expected that the book would establish a milestone by propelling the movement of knowledge. "The first book by Atul Borah gained popularity among the readers. I hope this book, which is the outcome of relentless study and labour of the author, will also draw the attention of the readers and critics," he added. Atul Borah stated that an indomitable hope of giving something to the society and an earnest zeal to create something were the forces for the publication of the book. "The value and existence of the book will remain the same in the world of knowledge, though the new contributions of modern technology have occupied place in the intellectual society. Keeping this view in mind, the book is forwarded to the readers, collecting the articles which were scattered in various journals, newspapers and souvenirs," he said.
