Gorkha body formed under Sootea LAC in Jamugurihat

JAMUGURIHAT: A new Gorkha body titled Brihattar Sootea Gorkha Samaj was formed with selected representatives from 17 Gaon Panchayats under Sootea LAC in a general meeting held at Bapuji Bhavan, Jamugurihat on February 19.

Moti Kumar Newar, the executive member of Gorkha Development Council (GDC), addressed the huge gathering and focused his lecture on various issues and problems of the community and justified the need of a new body for all-round development of the community concerned. Dhanapati Kafle, a known social worker, presided over the meeting. Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika graced the meeting and addressed the gathering. He also appealed to the gathering to work for community development.

At the end of the meeting, a new committee was formed with Moti Kumar Newar as president, Kishor Dahal as an executive president, Sanjay Sarma, Binoy Goutam, Rekha Lama and Akash Dahal as joint secretaries along with 51 general members.
