Gorkha Development Council felicitates MLA Padma Hazarika

JAMUGURIHAT: A delegation of Gorkha Development Council (GDC), which included Moti Kumar Newar, Sanjib Chetry, GDC members, and Biju Khadka, working president of Sonitpur district committee of Gorkha Sammelan, among others, called on Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika on Tuesday at his Kanyaka Krishi Paam residence located on the bank of the River Jiya Bharali and felicitated him with a bor japi, Gorkha cap, gamosa and Gorkha shawl for being elevated to cabinet minister rank. After being felicitated, Padma Hazarika said, "The Gorkha community is an inseparable part of the greater Assamese society." He further stated, "I will request the State Government to give special charge to a cabinet minister to look into the issues and long-pending problems of the community."
