DHUBRI: All the government hoarding, posters and banners were removed from the public places in Dhubri district after Model Code of Conduct came into effect on Monday. More than 500 large hoarding, posters and banners put up by the various government department bearing posters of leaders, ministers including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal were already removed.

“Now small sized placards hanged with lamp-posts are being removed and wall writings are whitewashed to make the task complete,” a senior official told The Sentinel on Friday.

Meanwhile, Dhubri Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer, Anant Lal Gyani in a meeting with officials and representative of political parties held at official conference hall clarified that as per guideline issued by the Chief Election Commissioner of India, no offline application seeking to hold rallies and public meeting would be entertained.

“Only online applications through Suvidha app will be entertained,” Gyani informed. Gyani also informed that various cells have already been formed headed by competent officials and they were discharging their duties with full devotion and dedication to conduct the poll smoothly and peacefully.

Gyani also replied to many queries related to poll raised by the representative of political parties and explained the Model Code of Conduct in details. Besides these, election officials is also campaigning to create awareness and appealing the voters to exercise their voting rights on April 23 when 4 Dhubri Parliamentary Constituency would go for poll, Gyani added.
