Government Should Arrest Congress MLA Sherman Ali For His Derogatory Comments Against Martyrs: Shrinkhal Chaliha

While speaking to reporters at the Jorhat Press Club Shrinkhal Chaliha said that Congress Baghbar constituency MLA Sherman Ali has to kneel down and should make an apology for his derogatory comment against the martyrs.

"We also demand immediate arrest of Sherman Ali by the government; else the government should be prepared for the circumstances," added Chaliha.

He also urged all indigenous people to come together for unity.

It is noteworthy to mention that MLA Sherman Ali earlier claimed that Dayanath Sarma and eight others were not martyrs, rather they were killers. "In the year 1983 several Muslim people (Miya origin) were brutally killed by Dayanath Sarma and eight other persons," said Ali to the media.

Police complaints have already been filed against MLA Ali with the Dispur police station.

Terming the statement of MLA Sherman Ali as 'irrelevant' APCC president Bhupen Bora said that his party will not tolerate such statements.

"This is the third time, when MLA Sherman Ali has made such a needless and irrelevant statement in front of the media, thus, me along with General Secretary AICC Jitendra Singh and CLP leader Debabrata Saikia will take a call on this on Friday," said Bora.
