Governor Gulab Chand Kataria stresses spreading ideology of Mahapurush Madhabdev

Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Tuesday arrived in Lakhimpur with a two-day-long programmes. On Wednesday, the Governor visited the Madhabdev University, located at Narayanpur, wherein he held a meeting with Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nirode Baruah along with the academic and administrative staff to take stock of the infrastructural problems of the university.

LAKHIMPUR: Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Tuesday arrived in Lakhimpur with a two-day-long programmes. On Wednesday, the Governor visited the Madhabdev University, located at Narayanpur, wherein he held a meeting with Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nirode Baruah along with the academic and administrative staff to take stock of the infrastructural problems of the university.

In this connection, the Governor held detailed discussion and assured that he would initiate due steps to resolve the problems that the university had been facing. Earlier, the university authority accorded him a warm welcome by escorting him with Gayan-Bayan and Guard-of-Honour presented by NCC cadets, rovers and rangers and members of the NSS unit of the university.

Then the Governor took part in an interactive session with the students in a cordial environment. While delivering his speech, the Governor paid obeisance to Mahapurush Madhabdev and threw light on his spiritual ideology and his contributions to Assam and mankind. He said that establishment of a university after the name of Madhavdev is an admirable and landmark event. He called upon the students studying in the university to shape themselves to prove them worthy of all across the globe. He added that the noble works of the Mahapurush Madhabdev, his devotion (Dasyabhakti) to the Supreme Soul and love to the world is incomparable and laid stress on spreading his ideology far and wide. In connection, he termed Narayanpur to be a sacred place, where twelve Vaishnavite personalities were born and illuminated Assam with the light of their spiritual teachings.

On the other hand, the Governor appreciated and congratulated the university for playing the role of a pioneer with regard to implementing the National Education Policy-2020 by taking steps from last year. He further emphasized the importance of women’s education and exhorted all to work for educating the women. He expressed his satisfaction over the progress of women in the society. He said that the contribution of women in building of society and the nation is always a matter of great pride. He further suggested the university to ensure imparting education to the students in technical and vocational courses. He also called upon the university to impart education for the physical, mental and spiritual enhancement of the students. Bihpuria MLA Dr Amiya Kumar Bhuyan, Lakhimpur District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, Vice-Chancellor Dr Nirode Baruah, ADC Bhaskar Jyoti Borah, Registrar Sarat Hazarika were among those who were present in the programme.

Later, the Governor chaired a meeting with the District Commissioner, SP, Heads of Security Agencies and departmental heads in the conference hall of the District Commissioner’s Office. In the meeting, the Governor took stock and assessed the implementation of both Central and State government schemes in the district. He instructed the departmental heads to adequately monitor the schemes during the implementation and to see that the people are being benefited from the respective schemes.
