Grand Bathou Aroj and Kherai get underway at Green Field, Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The three day-long grand Bathou Aroj and Kherai puja organized by the organizing committee for peace and harmony got under way from Friday at Green Field, BTC Secretariat, Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar. Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary inaugurated the mass prayer centre after Bathou prayer at Bathou Thanshali.

In his speech, Speaker Biswajit Daimary said the aims of organizing grand Bathou Aroj and Kherai puja was to bring peace, love and harmony among all. He said there had been disunity, discourse between each other and hoped that the mass prayer will remove all differences and social discourses in the society. He called upon all to obey the principles of Bathou.

Daimary said Bwrai Bathou was the creator of earth, he is the God, the saviour and guide in life. He formed the earth, the sun, the flame and water, he said adding that conservation of mother nature is part of Bathou teachings. He also said people should come forward to save nature, plant trees or nurture trees to keep the earth green, clean with fresh air.

The Speaker said Bathou followers, Bathou priests, from different parts of the state joined the grand Bathou prayer and Kherai Puja. He said at least 1000 worshippers will continue to pray Bathou prayer daily for peace and harmony among all. He also said there would be Kherai Puja on March 5 and special prayer session.
