KOKRAJHAR: The three-day long grand Bathou Aroj and Kherai Puja for bringing peace and harmony among all sections of people organized by the Observance Committee, held at Green Field, BTC Secretariat, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar concluded on Sunday with a day-long prayer and Kherai Puja.

Talking to media persons, Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary said the special focus for organizing grand Bathou Aroj and Kherai Puja was to bring peace, love, unity and integrity among all sections of people of BTC area. He said the mass prayer with about a thousand Bathou followers will remove the ill thinking and differences between each other and to establish a peaceful atmosphere among all.

Daimary said the traditional Kherai Puja had a message for welcoming and satisfying all Gods and Goddesses where their souls come to the ‘Doudini’ who perform like a medium and expresse their voices. He also said the Bathou, the sole God of the Bathouism, had deep philosophy and taught. He called upon the followers to wake up to reach our the Bathou philosophy and taught everywhere. Former deputy chief of BTC, Kampa Borgoyari who attended the mass prayer, said that Bathou was one of the oldest religions on earth that connected with the nature. He thanked the organizers for holding grand Bathou Aroj and Kherai for peace and unity. The Kherai Puja was also joined by the CEM of Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous (BKWAC) Mihiniswar Basumatary, EMs Anil Basumatary and Pranab Mashahary, Kokrajhar DC-cum-Secretary, BTC, Varnali Deka, former MP from Mangaldai Ramen Deka and religious leaders of Bathou.

Earlier, in the morning, State Minister UG Brahma joined the Bathou Aroj. He said the young generation should follow the teachings of Bathou to keep them connected with the faith and goodness of the religion. He also said the addiction of drugs substances and alcohol among the youths in the society became a matter of concern and so it is very important to imbibe the teachings of Bathou to stay away from bad things, saying that one who follows the teachings of religion always be sober and descent.
