HAILAKANDI: Minister for Environment and Forest, Fisheries and Excise cum Guardian Minister, Hailakandi, Parimal Suklabaidya reviewed various development works of the district on Friday.
Reviewing the Centrally Sponsored Schemes and State Government schemes and projects at Deputy Commissioner's conference hall, Suklabaidya asked the officials to speed up the works and show significant progress in next rounds of meetings.
The Guardian Minister took review of the development works including primary health centers, civil hospital, oxygen plants, oxygen production capacity and vaccination in rural areas, agriculture, flood protection works, fisheries and excise. He informed that projects must be implemented in a timely and planned manner including education, water supply, road construction and welfare oriented schemes.
Earlier, at a meeting held at Hailakandi Zilla Parishad conference room, Deputy Commissioner, Rohan Kumar Jha apprised the Minister that P&RD works under the 14th Finance Commission Award have been almost completed. The Minister asked the Deputy Commissioner to submit a comprehensive report after making field visits. He also directed the Deputy Commissioner to ascertain whether schemes have been taken up at anchalik, gram panchayat and zilla parishad levels as per the 15th Finance Commission Award guidelines and to submit a report within the next 15 days. The meeting was attended by MLAs, Sujam Uddin Laskar, Nizam Uddin Choudhury and Zakir Hussain Laskar, District Development Commissioner, CEO, Zilla Parishad and district heads of all departments.
Earlier, the Minister gave away cheques for Rs one lakh each to the kin of those who succumbed to COVID under the Prarthana Scheme. Later, Suklabaidya, who is the Guardian Minister of Karimganj reviewed projects and schemes being implemented by different departments at a meeting with Deputy Commissioner, Khageswar Pegu, Superintendent of Police, CEO, Zila Parishad, MLA, Kamalakhya Das Purkayastha and officials of concerned departments at Deputy Commissioner's conference hall. Suklabaidya underscored the need for timely execution of schemes and projects to 'ensure fruits of development reach out to the people'. Suklabaidya distributed cheques to the kin of the COVID victims under the Prarthana Scheme, stated a press release.
