KOKRAJHAR: The first phase of Gunotsav 2023, which is an exercise to evaluate the performance of the students and schools, got underway in Kokrajhar district from Wednesday with four-day schedule.
As per the schedule, on the first day, self evaluation was conducted by all schools on reading skills of students and on January 19 to January 21, 2023, external evaluation will be done by the external evaluators on scholastic and schools.
A total of 1,25,432 students studying in class-I to class-IX in 1,616 Lower Primary, Upper Primary and Composite government schools of the district will cover in this evaluation process. As such, a total of 653 External Evaluators and 283 Liasion Officers have been appointed.
The External Evaluators will visit schools and evaluate teacher and student attendance, skills of students, sportsmanship of students, role of school management committees, community participation, availability of school infrastructures and other issues.
Bipul Saikia, Joint Secretary of Transformation and Development department, Tejprasad Bhusal, Additional Secretary of Agriculture department, Pranjit Kumar Wary, Joint Secretary of Mines and Minerals Department, Dr. Debojit Khanikar, Joint Secretary of Tourism department and Nirmal Kanti Debnath, Joint Secretary and Director of Fisheries department will visit the district to perform their duties as external evaluators during the Gunotsav.
Besides providing all necessary administrative support, including security arrangement for smooth conduct of gunotsav in the district, Kokrajhar district administration has taken steps to ensure greater participation of all stakeholders such as teachers, students and communities in the interest of enhancing quality education. Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar Varnali Deka wished all schools success in the ongoing and upcoming exercises and urged all to perform their duties sincerely.
